semiconductor RF supplier Skyworks announced on its official website that it has reached a definitive agreement with Silicon Labs. Skyworks will acquire Silicon Labs’ infrastructure and automotive businesses in an all-cash asset transaction, with a total value of US$2.75 billion (approximately RMB 17.85 billion).

According to the press release, the acquisition will help Skyworks accelerate its expansion into the industry’s most important growth areas, including electric vehicles, hybrid vehicles, industrial and motor control, power supply, 5G wireless infrastructure, optical data communications, data centers, automotive, smart Home and other applications.
Mark Thompson, general manager of Silicon Labs’ infrastructure and automotive applications business, will join Skyworks, reporting directly to Skyworks CEO Liam K. Griffin. In addition, approximately 350 employees, including the senior management team, will join Skyworks upon completion of the transaction.
It is reported that the transaction has been approved by the boards of directors of both parties and is expected to complete all procedures in the third quarter of 2021, subject to certain closing conditions and regulatory approvals.
