Impact of Earthquakes in the Kyushu Area on Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corp. Group Operations

Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation has responded to the major earthquakes that occurred off the coast of Kyushu on January 22 by establishing an emergency task force at its headquarters in Kawasaki, Japan. Our first concern is the safety of our employees and their families, and beyond this the wellbeing of the local community in the affected area. We are also assessing the damage to our production facilities, and will provide updates as soon as they become available.

Impact and status affected by the earthquakes as of 12:00 today is as follows.

Status of Toshiba’s Group Companies’ facilities in Kyushu area

1. Japan semiconductor Inc. Oita Operations (Oita City, Oita Pref., Japan, Semiconductor production)

  • The safety of all of employees has been confirmed. 
  • There is no significant damage to buildings and infrastructure, but we have confirmed damage to some production lines.
  • We will decide on when to resume production as soon as assessments on status of production lines is completed. 

2. Toshiba Materials Co., Ltd. Oita Factory (Oita City, Oita Pref., Fine ceramics products production)

  • The safety of all of employees has been confirmed.
  • There is no damage to buildings, infrastructure or production lines.
  • The factory is operating normally.

3. Buzen Toshiba Electronics Corp. (Buzen City, Fukuoka Pref., Semiconductor production)

  • The safety of all of employees has been confirmed.
  • There is no damage to buildings, infrastructure or production lines.
  • The factory is operating normally.
